Details About CLAT-UG 2017

Currently, there are 17 NLU’s in India out of which one of the NLU conducts this exam. It is the duty of one of these 17 National Law University to conduct the exam each year. Last year it was conducted by Rajiv Gandhi National Law University of Law,Punjab. For the year 2017, it is responsibility of “Chankya National Law University, Patna”, to conduct the examination.

Eligibility Criteria for UG Programme:

  • Interested candidates must have done +2 and the candidates whose result is awaited are also eligible to apply.
  • +2 must have been cleared from a recognized university with the minimum 45% marks for general category and 40% marks for SC/ ST category.
  • The candidates will have to produce the an evidence of qualifying the exam at the time of admission.
  • Candidates who will cleared +2 with compartment are also eligible to apply for the examination.


Age Limit for CLAT 2017:

  • As per a recent ruling, candidates must be less than 20 years old as on 1st July2017.
  • 2 years age relaxation is given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST category i.e the upper age limit belonging to the above mentioned category is 22 years.


CLAT 2017 Application Form:

  • CLAT 2017 Application forms will be available from 1st week of January 2017.
  • Cost of application forms for GEN/OBC/SAP (Specially Abled Persons) is Rs. 4000 and for candidates belonging to SC/ST candidates , it will be Rs. 3500 only.

CLAT 2017 Subjects:

Before starting the preparation, it is very important to go through the syllabus. The examination syllabus covers topics from English, Mathematics, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, GK, Current Affairs. There is no fixed syllabus of CLAT as number of changes take place in it every year. The syllabus is prepared by the university conducting the exam.

CLAT 2017 Counselling:

  • The admission to UG programme in CLAT 2017 will be done via centralized counselling. “Merit-cum-preference” criteria will be adopted for allotting seats to the candidates.
  • Counselling process will begin after the declaration of the result. It will be organized in three rounds. Earlier it was organized in four rounds but according to the changes, in 2017 it will organized in three rounds.
  • 50,000 will have to be paid by the candidates as counselling fee to show their commitment in taking admission in any of the participating National Law University.
