AILET 2017 was held on 7 May’17 by National Law University in an Offline mode. The exam pattern remained unchanged with the question paper comprising of 150 Objective type questions. According to the reviews of the students, AILET’17 was one of the toughest exam papers hosted by NLU, Delhi.

More than 18000 applications were received for AILET’17 for 83 BA LLB & 50LLM programme seats at NLU, Delhi. This shows the increasing interest of the students to get admission at NLU, Delhi.

There was NO NEGATIVE marking in the exam. The candidates were awarded 1 mark each for correct answer & 0 marks were awarded for the questions left unanswered.

 

Students Feedback

Students found AILET’17 to be tougher than the exams held in preceding years. They also found the time duration of 90 minutes was not sufficient to complete the test owing to the difficulty level of the exam.

Many students were of the opinion that GK section was the toughest of all the sections, while Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning were the most time-consuming. In lieu of GK, many students looked for other sections to compensate.

Overall, the paper was MODERATE -TOUGH and time-consuming.

A marked changed was observed in this section as an important part of Reading Comprehension was completely missing. It was completely replaced by Cloze Test, which appeared to be quite lengthy.

 

Improved Strategy for CLAT 2017:

Be ready to face surprises in this section. Practice Cloze test questions based on lengthy passages as their chances of appearing in CLAT exam are very high.

This section was dominated by questions from Legal Knowledge. There were total 19 questions based on Legal Knowledge. Legal Reasoning questions were very lengthy and used multiple aspects of knowledge in the given area to form the principle.

When revising current affairs, focus on legal news as well. Be well prepared to face lengthy principle-fact based questions.

In Analytical part of Reasoning, topics like Blood Relations, Direction, Arrangement etc., dominated the section. The surprise element was questions based on Decision making and Input.

This section was an easy one. There were questions on Average, Speed Time & Distance, Time & work etc. There were no surprises at all. The questions were on similar pattern as last year.

Most of the questions under Current affairs were from the second half of 2016 (i.e July onwards). It included questions on Nobel prize in Economics, ROSS robot, Software Robotics by Indian Bank, Miss International 2016, GSAT-18, International Happiness Day, HDI, Medals by India in Special Olympics etc.

Static GK was a mixed one, with the major option of questions from Science.

AILET-2017 Result & Expected Cut-off

The result will be declared on 18 May’17. It is expected that the cut-off might go down significantly, reaching 90-92 as compared to 105 for AILET’16.
