CAT (Common Admission Test) is a national level entrance examination conducted by IIMs (Indian Institute of Management) on rotation basis. In 2016, it was conducted by IIMs Bangalore for admission to 2017-18 session.

Around 2.32 lacs candidates registered for the exam. From the period of 2010-2016, this was the highest number of registrations in CAT. As per Government of India Norms, IIMs reserve 15% seats for SC candidates, 7.5% seats for ST candidates and 27% seats for NC-OBC candidates. 3% seats are reserved for Persons with Disabilities.

CAT exam was conducted on 4 December 2016.The candidates who have appeared for the exam is eagerly waiting for the result. The result now out!

Shortlisted candidates will be called for Group discussion, written ability test, and Personal Interview. CAT 2016 was considered to be tough; therefore, the cut-off is expected to be low compared to the previous years.

The score card contains the overall & sectional marks scored by the candidates. IIMs determine their individual cut off based on the number of participants and average percentile scored by the candidates.

 

How to check CAT 2016 result?

CAT 2016 result is expected to be declared today. The percentile scored by all candidates will be sent to the candidates via sms on their registered mobile number. But in order to check the complete score and marks obtained by the candidate in each section, candidates will have to login at iimcat.in and download their score card.

 

Steps to download the result

  • Visit the official website of CAT
  • You will find a login button at the right hand side of the home page.
  • Proceed by clicking on “Existing User button”.
  • You will automatically be directed to the login page.
  • Enter your Login Id & password.
  • Your result will be displayed on the screen.
  • Click on “download score card” to download the score card.
  • Take a print out of your CAT 2016 score card.

 

What after CAT result 2016?

After CAT results are declared, all the participating institutes will start their admission process. Candidates will have to apply for B-schools separately but there is no need to apply for IIMs separately.

Selection process consists of Group discussion & Personal Interview rounds. Every IIM has its own selection criteria. They shortlist the candidates on the basis of CAT score, academics, work experience, Group discussion/ Personal interview score etc.
