Students who appeared for the civil services preliminary examination in 2011 will get an additional chance in year 2015.
A number of students who had taken the UPSC Civil Services exam in 2011 had protested against the change in exam pattern. The Civil Services Aptitude test (CSAT- Paper 2 of Prelims) was introduced in 2011; this came as a big surprise for the candidates that time. The English Language Comprehension questions in CSAT which were scrapped in 2014, were included for gradation or merit in 2011-2013.
In July 2014, the Government had assured that a suitable step will be taken in their favour. A senior Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) said, "Those who had taken civil services examination in 2011 will be given an extra chance this year.”
Jitendra Singh (Union Minister) had said in Parliament in August last year that, "Candidates, who appeared in civil services examination 2011, may be given one more attempt in 2015." The government is now trying to keep its promise it made to the 2011 Civil Services Exam candidates.
The picture is expected to get clearer in the UPSC 2015 Notification for Civil Services Exam that will be out tomorrow, 16th May, 2015.
