No Interviews for Clerk Jobs

The Clerk Recruitment process has undergone a change. The Government of India has advised the public sector banks to dispense Interviews for Clerk posts in order to facilitate transparency in the selection process.

As per the new route,

  • Candidates who submit the applications for IBPS Clerk exam will have to appear for a Preliminary Exam.
  • Qualifying candidates will be shortlisted for the IBPS-Clerk Mains exam.
  • Candidates qualifying the Mains would be directly selected for the job.

There is a possibility that the banks may conduct Psychometric Tests as a replacement for Interviews.

While there will be no interviews for Clerical and Office Assistant posts, there is no change in the PO Recruitment process.

False Rumours about IBPS-PO and Clerk Recruitment:

There were rumours that IBPS would stop conducting bank exams for recuitment in 2016. However, these rumours are completely baseless. It is true that the public sector banks are under severe pressure due to rising NPAs (bad loans). The number of vacancies may only get reduced owing to the huge losses suffered by banks but banks won’t stop recruiting due to increasing number of bank branches each year.
