Since the GATE exam is one of the most challenging and toughest exams in the country, having a solid foundation with a well-structured study plan is paramount if you want to crack GATE in the first attempt. Here are a few practical tips you should consider to upgrade your GATE 2023 preparation.
There is no denying that if you start your GATE 2023 preparation at the earliest, you will be able to accomplish your study targets and revise adequately. Starting early will help you to understand various complex topics in detail as you will have ample time to explore them.
Before you embark on your GATE preparation journey, you should be acquainted with the GATE syllabus and its exam pattern. Having a thorough understanding of the GATE syllabus will help to prepare for the exam in a better way.
Similarly, the GATE exam pattern will help in effective preparation as you will get to know about the total number of questions, types of questions, marking scheme, time duration, etc.

Once you have gathered all the necessary information about the exam and its syllabus, you should make a realistic, measurable and productive study plan. It should include sufficient time for every subject along with adequate time for revision. It is recommended to study for at least 6-7 hours initially as you have enough time.
Set daily, weekly and monthly targets and try to accomplish them for effective preparation. This will not only boost your confidence but will also help you to grasp topics in detail.
Regular evaluation of your preparation is a prerequisite for cracking the GATE 2023 exam. Hence, it is recommended to attempt mock tests in a simulated exam environment. Mock tests help in time management apart from boosting confidence.
In addition to Mock tests, you should also refer to and solve previous year's questions. This activity will help you to understand the types of questions asked in the exam, their marks weightage, and how often they have been asked in the examination.
One of the most crucial aspects of fetching a good score in the GATE is seamlessly using the Virtual Calculator during the examination.
Since you aren’t allowed to carry a physical calculator during the GATE examination, you will have to use a Virtual calculator for solving numerical-based questions. Hence, being a GATE aspirant, you must have a sound knowledge of using a Virtual Calculator and practice it often during GATE exam preparation.
Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude are game-changers in the GATE exam. Most of the students take up these crucial subjects in the last assuming that these can be covered easily in less time.
However, the reality is that like other subjects, Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude also require a deeper understanding. If properly prepared, they can raise your score significantly.
Your regular studies should be constantly accompanied by revision. Regular revision is an important aspect of the GATE exam preparation as it helps to retain the information and knowledge for a longer period of time. The more you revise during your preparation, the better you will understand the study material.
