This news will bring a sigh of relief for all those medical post graduates who have completed their degrees from some other country and trying to start their career in India. Now, you can start your teaching career in India without even clearing FMGE exam.
Medical Council of India has recently amended “Minimum Qualification for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998”. According to MCI amendment, Medical post graduates who have completed their medical post graduation degrees from United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are eligible for applying for the post of Assistant Professor in Medical Colleges. Qualification of such candidates would be considered equivalent to the qualification of candidates who have completed their degrees from India.
These new rules are valid from March 11, 2017 (as per date of notification in the gazette) and have been referred to as “Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions (Amendment) Regulations, 2017”.
