Hello, please tell us something about yourself.
I am Dr. Vaibhav Surani. I did graduation from Davao Medical School Foundation, Philippines. I scored 206 marks on FMGE June 2018.
According to you what is the correct approach to study for FMGE? Only MCQs or Theory + MCQs?
Both theory and Mcqs are required to be prepared for successfully clearing FMGE.
When should the preparation ideally be started?
Before 5 months
Please list the books you studied for each subject.
FMGE solutions by the great Dr. Marwah and Dr. Siraj Ahmed + all the subject wise class notes of DIAMS. Nothing more than this.
Is this your first attempt? If No, what did you do different this year that lead to your success?
It was my 1st attempt.
What's the role of practice and revision while preparing for FMGE and how much time should be dedicated for it?
Revision is the most imp thing, the last 1 and a half month should be kept only for revision, we should not try to study anything new.
Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?
Yes, the Pre FMGE mock conducted by Dr. Marwah was very very challenging, I just scored 159 and 163 marks. The exam was of a kind that opened my eyes and made me realize that I need to study more.
Did you follow a timetable/study plan to keep your preparation on track?
Yes, for the last 2 months I had a timetable for revision.
Were you a topper or an average student during graduation?
I was an average student all through my graduation.
List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.
Difficult – Medicine, Pharma
Easy – ENT, Ophtha, Surgery, PSM
One mistake that should be avoided while preparing for FMGE.
Don’t follow a lot of books, stay away from negative people, sleep for 6 hr daily
Some tips for our readers preparing for FMGE?
Read class notes and FMGE Solutions as much as possible. Keep on revising, 7-8 times at least each subject. You can even score 250, no jokes
