Students who appeared for the NEET PG 2025 exam are now eagerly waiting for the counseling process to begin.
And, amidst the waiting, it’s also come into the news that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has revised the cutoff percentile. This in turn brings significant changes to the process.
Now, candidates will require a 15th percentile to qualify for the remaining seat allotment rounds. And, the cutoff for SC/ST categories is now reduced to 10th percentile.

Now that you have all the deadlines handy, make sure you don’t skip any of them as the entire counselling process is time sensitive. And, missing a deadline would mean losing your seat.
The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has provided reservations to various categories of candidates appearing in the NEET PG exam. The reservation criteria are based on the Government of India guidelines and are applicable to both the All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota seats.
The table below showcases the amended 50 per cent All India Quota seat reservation criteria for students:

Note: Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will have to provide the relevant documents during the NEET PG registration process to claim reservations.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate) counselling for admission to postgraduate medical programmes in India. NEET PG counselling includes two parts, both of which are listed below.
AIQ counselling is held for 50% of seats available in government medical colleges throughout India. According to the candidate's NEET PG rank and preferences, MCC conducts the counselling and assigns the seats.
The respective state administrations conduct this counselling for the remaining 50% of seats in government medical colleges, including the seats that weren't filled during AIQ counselling. Seats are assigned based on the candidate's NEET PG rank and their choices.

The counselling process for NEET PG 2025 is nearing its next phase. The exact dates fir the upcoming steps are yet to be confirmed. Eligible candidates can visit the official MCC website if you wish to check the final seat allotment results after the round-1 counselling concludes.
Once the results are announced, candidates who secure a seat can upload their documents on the official portal. They can then complete the reporting and joining formalities at their allotted institute.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) administers the NEET PG counselling procedure for admission to postgraduate medical programmes in India. The following steps are a part of the counselling process:
To participate in the NEET PG counselling procedure, candidates must register on the MCC website. Filling out personal and academic information, uploading papers, and paying the registration fees are all required steps in the registration procedure.
Following registration, candidates must select their preferred courses and colleges from a list. The options can be changed or removed before the submission is made.
MCC organises seat allotment based on candidates’ NEET PG rank, selections they have made, and the seats that are available.
Following the final seat assignment, candidates must either accept their seat or choose to upgrade during the ensuing round of counselling.
Once the seat has been accepted, applicants must arrive at the designated college within the specified time frame with the required paperwork to finish the admissions process.
The same procedure is repeated up until the last round of counselling if the candidate chooses an upgrade during the subsequent session of counselling.

Admissions for 50% of the State Quota seats and 100% of the seats at private colleges are managed by the State authorities for NEET PG admissions. Each state conducts separate counselling sessions for admission and based on NEET PG cutoff score, academic qualification, and other factors, each state compiles a merit list of qualified applicants.
Seats for the MD, MS, and PG diploma programmes will be distributed depending on state rank, reservation criteria, and other variables, and candidates will select their preferred college and courses during the registration process.

The NEET PG cutoff scores/qualifying percentile released on the official NBE website, along with NEET PG 2025 results on 19th August 2025 was 50th percentile. The same was 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC, and 45th percentile for General - PH.
Qualified candidates can participate in the NEET PG 2025 counselling by registering on the official MCC website.
Candidates need to apply online for NEET PG 2025 counselling. You must register on the official MCC website. You will be required to pay the registration fee, select and lock your preferred colleges and courses, and submit all the required documents to finish the admissions process following seat allocation.

For NEET PG 2025 counselling, approximately 42,217 total seats across MD, MS, PG Diploma, and DNB courses are available in India, with the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) managing the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) and 100% seats in deemed, central universities, ESIC, and AFMS institutions. State authorities will conduct counselling for the remaining 50% of state quota seats.
During the NEET PG counselling registration, candidates need to provide the enrolment number. It is the unique number found on the MBBS Degree, specific to each candidate and the university from which the MBBS course has been completed.
