I'm KALTANA PRABHAKARAN from Madurai Medical College and my JIPMER May 2018 rank is 4.
What do you think is the correct approach to study for JIPMER? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?
Theory + MCQ's. You cannot afford to miss any of these.
When should the preparation ideally be started?
As soon as we join coaching classes.
Have you attempted any PG exam previously? If yes, what were your ranks then and what did you do different this time that lead to your success?
May JIPMER 2017- 4184
Nov JIPMER 2017- 400
May JIPMER 2018- 4
Revising again and again along with JIPMER Repeats for past 5 yrs.
How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for JIPMER and how much time should be dedicated for it?
Last 5 year JIPMER paper should be revised thoroughly and the notes you build during preparation should be revised as much as possible.
Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?
Yes. In Mock exam of JIPMER, I got rank 40+. Dat sort of motivated me to do better in the final month before exam.
Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?
Yes. During revision I planned long subjects for 2 days and short subjects for 1 day.
This helped me stay focused and hit the milestones I set for myself.
Were you a topper or a mediocre student during MBBS?
I was definitely not a topper during graduation.
List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.
Easiest- Surgery
Difficult- Anatomy
One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for JIPMER.
Not studying physiology problems is a big mistake that students commit.
Also studying recent drugs approved by FDA is very important before the exam.
What was your exam taking strategy? How many questions did you attempt in JIPMER?
I planned to attempt 240+ questions. I would attempt a question if I was able to eliminate 2 options.
I ended up attempting 237.

Self made notes, regular revisions and Mock exams are the key to success in PG entrance exams.
