The National Board of Examination (NBE) has announced that all NBEMS accredited institutions must conduct internal appraisals for DNB, DrNB, Post MBBS, Fellowship, and Diploma Trainees. Guidelines and schedule has also been shared for the same.
A Birmingham doctor of Indian origin— Dr Vemala, saved a 43-year old passenger's life whose heart stopped working twice on a UK to India flight. The Hepatologist Doctor battled for 5-hours to save the man’s life and was only aided by medical supplies available on board and certain items with passengers. Before the flight landed in Mumbai, Dr Vemala resuscitated the 43-year-old man twice.
The state of Punjab is all set to reduce the bond service tenure for all the in-service doctors pursuing their postgraduate, from 10 to 7 years, and diploma, from 6 to 4 years in Punjab government institutions. At the same time, the new government policy plans to increase the penalty upon failing to fulfill the bond condition.
The Telangana state government has sanctioned a grant up to ₹34.38 crore for the construction of five new medical colleges in the state. The development will be made in a brownfield manner. The government plans to transform several government hospitals into medical colleges. Overall, the plan is bound to boost medical education in Telangana.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has validated the Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship done or started by the Foreign Medical Graduates in approved colleges, hospitals and colleges according to the old MCI list. However, this shall only be a one-time measure.
