PGI May 2018: Exam Analysis

We collected information from almost 2,000 candidates who took PGI exam on 13th May 2018 to help you understand how the exam was for others. We have consolidated data from all responses and given an accurate picture of the exam standard.

Overall difficulty

Exam was moderate in difficulty. With 65% respondents rating it moderate, 15% rating it difficult and 20%% rating it easy.

Pattern of questions

Questions were usually concept based and one liners. There was no image based questions and almost no direct repeats from previous year exams. Difficult questions were usually framed as “Easy questions with confusing options”. According to most respondents 100 questions were easy, 125 were moderate and 75 were difficult.

High weightage subjects

Medicine, Surgery, OBGY, Biochemistry and Pharmacology had the highest weightage.

Low weightage subjects

A staggering 45% students thought that the exam was not easy to finish within the 3 hr time limit. There was specially no time left for exam review.

Other common comments received about the exam:

• Reading all options in 3 hrs is a challenge.
• Concepts were repeated but not questions.
• Ophthalmology questions were difficult.
