Number of Seats in MD/MS Programs
The information pertaining to the seats has been compiled as per the data available on the official website of Medical Council of India (MCI). The complete information is summarized as follows:Total number of MD+MS+Diploma seats in India: 28,715
(Government+Private) (Including AIIMS, PGI, JIPMER, NIMHANS)Total number of MD+MS+Diploma Government seats: 18,657
(Including AIIMS, PGI, JIPMER, NIMHANS)Total number of MD+MS+Diploma seats excluded from NEET PG: 736
(AIIMS- 380, PGI- 196, JIPMER- 106, NIMHANS- 54)Total number of MD+MS+Diploma seats under NEET PG: 27,979
(Government+Private)Total number of MD+MS+Diploma government seats under NEET PG: 17,921
Total number of MD+MS+Diploma seats excluded from national counseling: 408
Jammu and Kashmir: 408 (390 govt)Total number of MD+MS+Diploma seats under national counseling: 13,785
(Government+Private)Total number of MD+MS+Diploma government seats under national counseling: 8,765
Note: Telangana and Andra Pradesh were earlier excluded from the national pool. However, these states are likely to contribute to the pool starting January 2018 admission session.
