Obtaining Eligibility Certificate Prior To Leaving the Nation The first step prior to leaving the nation for pursuing Medical UG program from a Foreign Medical Institution is to acquire an Eligibility Certificate from MCI, New Delhi. Obtaining the Eligibility Certificate from the MCI is mandatory since the Foreign Medical Graduates will not be permitted to appear/participate in MCI Screening Test/FMGE without obtaining the Eligibility Certificate from the MCI. Therefore, an FMGE aspirant must approach the MCI for obtaining an Eligibility Certificate prior to leaving the nation.

2. Qualifying FMGE The next step in the line is to qualify the FMGE exam. FMGE is a screening exam conducted by the MCI twice in a year in the months of June & December. FMGE exam is an online exam conducted over 2 phases in a day with each phase comprising 150 questions. Therefore, the exam comprises 300 questions in Total and Total Duration is 5 Hours. 3. Obtaining FMGE Pass Certificate The next step is Obtaining FMGE Pass Certificate. Obtaining the FMGE Pass Certificate involves a formal procedure. The procedure involves carrying necessary documents and reaching the corresponding addresses for obtaining the Certificate. 4. Temporary Registration Certificate The next step is to obtain Temporary Registration or apply for Internship. The complete procedure is complex and involves a lot of steps. 5. Internship Compulsory Rotating Internship is the term given to a 1 year compulsory work in a Hospital attached to a Medical College or in any other approved Hospital. Internship provides a basic clinical exposure of all disciplines of Medicine and is a mandatory pre-requisite for license to practice Medicine in India. 6. Obtaining Internship Completion Certificate After completion of Internship, it is mandatory to obtain Internship Completion Certificate from the concerned Medical Hospital. 7. Obtaining Permanent Registration Certificate The next step is to obtain Permanent Registration with the MCI. For obtaining the Permanent Registration Certificate, candidate will be required to approach the MCI office with Filled-in Application Performa, original as well as Xerox copies of the Degree and Mark sheets, Internship Completion Certificate, Passport and +2 Mark sheet with the requisite fee in favor of the Secretary, MCI, New Delhi.
