FMG Exam Eligibility Criteria

Any aspirant who fulfils the eligibility criteria can apply for the exam:

• Citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India.
• The candidate must have a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned, to be a recognized qualification for enrolment as a medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated.

The candidate should have obtained an 'Eligibility Certificate' from the National Medical Commission (or the erstwhile Medical Council of India) as per the ‘Eligibility Requirement for taking admission in an undergraduate medical course in a Foreign Medical Institution Regulations, 2002’.

FMGE 2024 Application Form

Online submission of applications for FMGE 2024 will start on 29th April, 2024 to 20th May, 2024 (Till 11:55 PM)

Is the FMGE equivalent to the National Exit Test (NEXT)?

Currently, foreign medical graduates must undergo the FMGE to obtain a medical practitioner's license in India. The National Exit Test introduced in 2019 is a licentiate examination for medical graduates including Indian and Foreign students unlike FMGE which is only for students who have graduated from abroad. 

How is the marking scheme for FMGE structured?

The marking scheme of the FMGE follows a straightforward approach where each answer carries a positive mark. There is no negative marking therefore you must attempt all the questions.

What is the passing percentage for FMGE?

To clear FMGE, you require a minimum of 50%. 

Is there an option for score re-evaluation in the event of a FAIL result?

No, the examination does not offer the option for score re-evaluation. Once the scores are declared, they are deemed final, and there is no provision for requesting a review or reassessment.

What is the limit on the number of attempts permitted in FMGE?

FMGE does not impose any restrictions on the quantity of attempts; candidates can take the exam an unlimited number of times.
