Starting his preparation in his third year, Dr. Dinesh embraced the extensive video lectures, particularly those of Dr. Marwah for medicine and Dr. Preeti Sharma for pathology and microbiology.

PrepLadder's comprehensive QBank was another cornerstone of Dr. Dinesh's study strategy. He meticulously bookmarked questions, focusing on those he answered incorrectly and those with particularly insightful solutions.

Her journey is a story of determination, strategy, and effective use of PrepLadder's resources. She started her focused preparation in February, using the FMGE Solutions book by Dr. Marwah, which she described as essential for covering previous year questions (PYQs) and their explanations. This book formed the foundation of her studies, making half of her preparation job easier.
Dr. Simran dedicated her last three months to revising her notes and PYQs three times. Her strategy included solving 100-150 questions daily and taking grand tests (GTs) regularly. She started with weekly GTs and increased the frequency to twice a week closer to the exam.

These resources allowed her to consolidate her knowledge and focus on high-yield topics. Dr. Simran emphasized the importance of starting early and using PrepLadder’s comprehensive QBank and mock exams, which simulated the real exam environment and helped her score consistently.

Starting his preparation in his fourth year of MBBS, Dr. Kripal focused on mastering complex subjects like Medicine and Cardiology early on.
He found Dr. Deepak Marwah’s lectures on ECG interpretation particularly invaluable, as they simplified a challenging topic and boosted his confidence.

Now to inspire you even more, let's talk about Dr. Aadi Morakhia, the topper of FMGE Jan '24.
Dr. Aadi Morakhia hails from Surat, Gujarat. He completed his MBBS from Smolensk State Medical University and successfully cleared the FMGE on his first try. In a conversation with Dr. Aadi, he shared that during the initial three years of his six-year course, he focused on solidifying his understanding of all 19 subjects.
Dr. Aadi emphasized the importance of consistent studying and practicing MCQs right from the start. He highlighted the significance of attempting grand tests to simulate the real exam environment and overcome exam fear. This approach helped him immensely in performing well on the day of the actual exam.
We have distilled the key strategies after analyzing the FMGE topper interview. Here is what we have discovered:
Build a strong framework to further expand your knowledge and understanding. Only once foundational knowledge is strong can you move on to understanding complex topics and will be able to face clinical questions in the exam.
When you have a strong grasp over fundamentals it will enable your critical thinking and analytical skills on the exam day.
Unlike most students who fear attempting the mock tests because of the fear of failure, the FMG exam topper for January, 2024 Dr. Aadi stringently practiced MCQs and also appeared for the grand tests and the Champions Exam ‘23 organized by PrepLadder for real exam simulation.
Not only it helped him assess his preparation but the real exam pattern of the mock test helped him prepare to face the exam pressure, and build confidence for the actual test day.
Just like him, you can begin your FMG exam preparation by beginning your MCQ practice from PrepLadder’s QBank.
From the FMGE topper interview, a major takeaway for you is to go with the gut when all the options of the MCQ appear nearly identical. Yes, Dr. Aadi emphasizes relying on your gut feeling can often be advantageous. Additionally, he cautions against overanalyzing questions, noting that he has fallen into this trap and selected incorrect answers as a result. Many students make this same mistake, ultimately costing them marks.
Nothing can beat revision and this becomes the key deciding factor for how well you perform in the exam! During the last days leading to the exam, Dr. Aadi’s study routine included skimming through his concise handwritten FMGE notes for all 19 subjects and a day before the exam he majorly focused on revising all the formulas and other volatile information.
Not just this but Dr. Aadi utilized his break between part 1 and part 2 of the FMG ‘24 exam to revise his handwritten notes instead of wasting it in idle chatter or discussing part 1- exceptional, isn't it?
Now that we have gained insights from the journey of the topper, we’d like you to run through the key takeaways that made the FMGE topper stay ahead in his game.
