Overall difficulty
The JIPMER May 2018 exam was very difficult according to most candidates. With 87% respondents rating it difficult and 13% rating it moderate practically no one rated the exam easy.Pattern of questions
Questions were usually one liners. There were very less image based questions and very few repeats from previous year exams. There were a lot of unusual syndromes, a big chunk of exam was from genetics with confusing options and very few clinical scenarios. Difficult questions were usually framed as “unheard of one liners” and unlike PGI and AIIMS exams, very few concept based questions were asked. According to most respondents 50 questions were easy, 50 were moderate and 150 were difficult.High weightage subjects
Pharmacology, Pathology and Medicine had the highest weightage.Low weightage subjects

Other common comments received about the exam
- Some questions were impossible to touch.
