Hey, this is Archana Singh graduated in July 2016 from YSMU, Armenia. I passed FMGE Dec 2016 with a score of 183.

What do you think is the correct approach to study for FMGE? Only MCQ's or Theory+MCQ's?

Theory+MCQ’s. Spend decent amount of time on theory as it serves as a base in solving previous years’ MCQ’s.Also Read: Problems faced by FMGE Aspirants

When should the preparation ideally be started?

The preparation ideally should start as soon as you enter the medical profession as a student.

It was my 1st attempt!

How big is the role of practice and revision while preparing for FMGE and how much time should be dedicated for it?

Practice and revision played a major role in my case. One should give as much time as possible for it.

Did PrepLadder play a part in your success? If yes, how?

PrepLadder played an important part. I gave mock tests at the end of my revision, one month before the exam. It gave me confidence in attempting the FMGE exam.

Did you use a time table/study plan to keep your preparation on track?

I always used a study plan to keep my preparation on track. I mostly made time tables for 2 weeks and whatever was missed or left out was added in the next plan with new topics.

Were you a topper or a mediocre student during graduation?

I was a mediocre student.

List the most difficult and easiest subjects for you.

Difficult- Medicine, PSM, AnatomyEasy- Dermatology, OBG, Anesthesia, Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry.

One mistake that you believe everyone must avoid while preparing for FMGE

Do not leave high yielding subjects which give you an upper edge in scoring like Anatomy, Ophthalmology, ENT, Pharmacology, PSM and short subjects which are frequently left out in the last leg of preparation but are very scoring.
