- Tissue samples are sent to a lab for examination. Tests can tell your medical team whether cancer is present or not. To find any changed DNA, additional laboratory techniques are performed on the cancer cells. The results can help rule out other malignancies that mimic your diagnosis and confirm that it is accurate. The information is used by your care team to decide which treatments are best for you.

Your healthcare team considers various aspects, including the location of your cancer and if it has spread to other parts of your body. Surgery
The goal of surgery is to eradicate all of the cancer. If the cancer has spread to nearby organs, it might not be possible. In that scenario, your doctor may recommend chemotherapy in addition to strong drugs to first lessen the cancer.
If total removal is not possible, your surgeon may try to remove as much of the cancer as possible. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy may be recommended following surgery to completely remove any cancer cells.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy uses powerful drugs to destroy cancer cells. Before surgery, chemotherapy may be administered to lessen the malignancy. This makes surgical removal easier. Another alternative for getting rid of any potential postoperative cells is chemotherapy.
Chemotherapy is another option if the cancer spreads to other bodily parts. In this instance, chemotherapy might be able to aid with pain and other symptoms.
Chemotherapy alternatives could consist of:
- Chemotherapy is applied to the entire body: Chemotherapy is most frequently administered by intravenous medicine injection. The drug permeates every part of your body. Including malignant cells, the drug kills rapidly proliferating cells.
- Chemotherapy is given only to the abdomen: Desmoplastic tiny round cell tumors surrounding the abdominal organs can be directly treated with chemotherapy drugs. This section of the body is known as the peritoneal cavity. Chemotherapy drugs are heated and injected directly into the abdomen to particularly target this area. The drugs are taken out after a specified period. The procedure known as hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is employed. After surgery, it can be a possibility.
Radiation therapy
Radiation therapy involves energy that comes from sources such as X-rays and protons. Radiation therapy involves you lying very motionless on a table while a machine rotates around you.
When desmoplastic small round cell tumors affect the abdomen, radiation therapy can be utilized to kill cancer cells that remain after surgery.
If your cancer has spread to other areas of your body, radiation therapy may be an option to treat symptoms including pain.
