Recently, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has issued Operational Guidelines regarding implementation of ‘Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0'.
About Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0
In Financial Year (FY) 2021-22, the Government of India (GoI) restructured the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and POSHAN (Prime Minister's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment) Abhiyaan into Saksham Anganwadi and POSHAN 2.0.
The restructured scheme consists of the following sub-schemes:
Nutrition Support for POSHAN through Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) for children of the age group of 06 months to 6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers (PWLM).
For Adolescent Girls in the age group of 14 to 18 years in Aspirational Districts and North Eastern Region (NER).
Early Childhood Care and Education and early stimulation for (0-3 years).
Anganwadi Infrastructure including modern, upgraded Saksham Anganwadi
Poshan Abhiyaan
Objectives of Poshan 2.0
To contribute to human capital development of the country.
To address challenges of malnutrition
To promote nutrition awareness and good eating habits for sustainable health and wellbeing
To address nutrition related deficiencies through key strategies

Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme
Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme is one of the flagship programmes of the Government of India, implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
ICDS was launched in 1975.
It aimed at providing basic education, health, and nutrition services for early childhood development.
The beneficiaries under the Scheme are children in the age group of 0-6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
POSHAN Abhiyaan
POSHAN Abhiyaan, previously known as the National Nutrition Mission (NNM).
It was launched on 8 March 2018 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to improve nutritional outcomes in a phased manner through a holistic life cycle approach.
The purpose of the programme is to serve as an apex body to assist a multi-ministerial convergence mission.
It aims to reduce the prevalence of malnutrition among children aged under six years, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers within a three-year period.
Adolescence is a crucial phase in the life of a woman. At this stage, she stands at the threshold of adulthood.
This stage is intermediary between childhood and womanhood and it is the most eventful for mental, emotional and psychological well-being.
The Adolescent Girls (AG) Scheme was implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development under Umbrella Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).
It primarily aims at breaking the intergenerational life-cycle of nutritional and gender disadvantage and providing a supportive environment for self-development.
National Creche Scheme
The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing the National Creche Scheme for Children of Working Mothers as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
It has been done through States/UTs with effect from 01.01.2017 to provide day care facilities to children (age group of 6 months to 6 years) of working mothers.
